Why do I go blind in my sleep?
Its not every night but I sometimes find in my dreams I close my eyes and can’t open them again. I get the feeling of stress and strain on my eyes when I try to re-open them but I feel totally paralysed and its really horrible. Just wondering if it’s common and might be part of some sleep disorder related to depression.
Can teenagers get insomnia/sleeping disorders?
Okay, so simple question: Can teenagers get sleep insomnia? I ALWAYS have trouble falling asleep which is REALLY annoying and aggravating. If I try to talk to my parents about it, they blow it off like I’m too young to have a sleeping disorder EVEN THOUGH they both have sleeping disorders and take prescribed medications for it. You’d think they’d realize it runs in the family, but obviously not. I have a feeling I may have insomnia or some other sleeping disorder because I can’t seem to find myself tired until the wee hours of the early morning (usually between 1-3 am) and even then, I have to pry myself into bed and hope to god I get tired. It’s really frankly pissing me off especially when my parents don’t listen. It’s not that I DON’T want to go to sleep I WANT to sleep but can’t. And at sometimes when I skype with my friends, it’s like 11 pm to 12 am and they are like falling asleep at their computers wondering how on Earth I’m still awake and not even a bit tired. SO what do you think? Could I possibly have a sleeping disorder?
Don’t say to be more active in the day, I do plenty in the day and even when I’ve had long, tiring, stressful days, I still cannot sleep.
And don’t say to go to bed earlier, because how can I do that if I’m not tired!
Any opinions will help, I’m considering trying to go to my doctor, but like I said, my parents blow me off. Thank you!

Treating sleep disorders due to head trauma?
In 2006 I had a car accident and had trauma to the left side of my head in the area right above where my ear is. I had a hairline fracture in my skull. I had a cat scan done and there was no brain injury sustained. Since my injury I’ve been experiencing fatigue throughout the day and trouble sleeping. Before the accident I use to sleep well with no problems and would wake up the next morning with energy all day. Now I wake up a few times during the night and only get about 5 hours of sleep, once I’m awake I cannot go back to sleep. I’ve been doing some research online and it seems quite common for people to suffer from sleep disorders after experiencing head trauma. Therefore, I believe my fatigue and various other symptoms that I use to never experience before the accident, one being irritability, is due to not getting enough sleep at night. With the research I have conducted, I have come to the conclusion that I have two options: Number one is to treat myself with time released melatonin (I believe my circadian sleep rhythms may have been disrupted), or number two going to see a sleep specialist/or maybe a neurologist instead?
Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.
Narcolepsy and the effects on a military carrer?
I want to hear from people that understand the effects of narcolepsy and the people I would like to hear from are those who were in the military and discharged because of it. I have been rated at 10% disabled due to narcolepsy but they havent been able to treat the problem with medication. I have been an 5 or more drugs and all at very high dose to max doses of the drug and I still feel the same. I want to hear your thoughts on what amount of disability you think a person should receive. I also started haveing narcolepsy symptoms after returning from a tour in Iraq. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

why do people take nyquil to sleep if over the counter sleep aids are available?
I’ve always wondered why someone would drink gross Nyquil, when you can buy over the counter sleep aids just about anywhere. I know this is a weird question, but hey it’s not like no ones asked a weird question here before…
Oh, and I’m not talking about when people are actually sick.
Does anybody have tremor that causes total insomnia and gerd?

Scared to sleep. What do I do to get more sleep?
I have only been getting about 3-4 hrs. of sleep for the past 3 months. I’m 13 and I know how much sleep your supposed to get when your a teen. Now i’m starting to show symptoms of sleep loss the first is #1 I always fall asleep in the middle of school even if were doing something interesting, I can’t help it. #2 I’m doing really bad in gym wich I used to be good at. #3 When I come home I always collapse on my bed and fall asleep imidiatley and it’s really hard to wake up. (fainting, maybe?) but my mom won’t let me anymore. #4 I’ve been thinking really weird things, and i’m amigining, seing, and sometimes even hearing things. I’m afraid of things that i’ve never been afraid of. I have also been crying because im always so sleepy. Some say that things that happened in the past can result in sleep disorders, even if they are not scary. If this si true then my dad had a brain tumor wich messed up his brain 4 yrs ago, my parents are divorced now. Wat I wan’t to know is what are some common sleep disorders among teens, I have never known why but the sleeping has always made me feel scared and vunurable when i’m in bed and it feels like if I close my eyes when I open them there will be something scary right in my face. Now that i’m imaganing this stuff is just scaring me more. My other question is what should I do about this? I asked my mom about going to the doctor but she said I was being stupid and most people who claim to have sleep disoreders are over reacting, and she won’t let me sleep in her room because a 13 yr old is to old to be sleeping in their parents room. I also know 2 people with sleeping disorders and I want to use the information to help them too. Tnks for reading, bye
